- Little to no maintenance. An annual cleaning will keep your system running good as new.
- Less electricity loss then other sources of energy that have a greater distance to travel.
- A home with solar cells functions as its own small power plant, saving you from blackouts.
- No harmful gases come from solar panels. Go green today and be a hero!
Why go solar?
There are many disadvantages to traditional energy sources. Select an icon to learn more.
Disadvantages of Nuclear Energy
Radioactive Waste: Nuclear reactors produce extremely hazardous waste that is difficult to dispose of and can leak if not stored properly. Nuclear waste emits radiations from tens to hundreds of years!
National Risk: Nuclear plants are hot targets for militants and terrorist organizations and creates a major concern for National security.
Fuel Availability: Uranium is a very scarce resource and exists in only a few countries. Permissions of several international authorities are required before someone can even think of building a nuclear power plant.
California’s last nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon, is set to close in the year 2025.
Disadvantages of Coal Energy
Environmental Hazards: Fossil fuels produce harmful gases such as Carbon Dioxide and Sulphur Dioxide which lead to global warming and acid rain.
Effect on Human Health: Pollution from coal power plants can cause serious environmental hazards, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and lung cancer. Long-term exposure may increase respiratory infections in general population. Children and the elderly are most vulnerable to fine particulate matter and other airborne toxicants.
